Each of these vases is hand-formed from stoneware clay with skill and care. The vibrant patterns are hand-painted in striking black glaze. The three ladies wear their traditional headscarves in typical African fashion and hold hands around the vase in the spirit of Ubuntu.
Glazed inside it will not leak and there is cork on the underside to prevent scratches on your table.
“UBUNTU ngumuntu ngabantu”
It is a complex Nguni word that means “the belief in a universal bond of sharing that connects all humanity, “I am what I am because of who we all are.”
In Africa, the definition of an individual is community-based and not individualist. The Ubuntu vases with their women holding hands in a spirit of Ubuntu, represent this philosophy.
